Tillage Erosion: The Soil You Can’t Afford to Lose
Up to 70% of soil erosion can be caused by tillage, and the amount of soil moved by tillage can equal or exceed that moved by wind and water. Tillage can expose and weaken soil, increasing its risk of erosion and moving valuable topsoil downhill. We’ll look at what that soil loss means for organic matter, soil structure, water and nutrients, and crop productivity—as well as the economics. We’ll also look at which tillage tools move the most soil and how reducing tillage can help keep your best soil where it belongs.
