Dr. Don Flaten

Dr. Don Flaten recently retired from his position as professor in nutrient management and crop nutrition in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Manitoba.

Earlier in his career at the U of M, Don served in administrative positions as the Director of the School of Agriculture at the U of M, as well as an Associate Dean for the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences.  Before joining the U of M, Don held positions as the Provincial Soils Specialist for Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture and as a District Agriculturist for Alberta Agriculture.  Don grew up on a farm near Weyburn, Saskatchewan and completed his B.Sc. in Agriculture (Agronomy) at the University of Saskatchewan; he acquired his Ph.D. in Soil Science from the University of Manitoba.
