Dave Franzen

Dave Franzen received his BS (’75), MS (’76) and PhD (’93) from the University of Illinois, Urbana, IL, USA. He worked as agronomist/manager of independent fertilizer locations in Illinois before joining North Dakota State University June, 1994. He has given over 1,000 presentations to state, national and international audiences, and has over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles as author or co-author. His research has involved methods for site-specific nutrient management, fertilizer rate studies that form the basis for the on-line N calculators for spring wheat/durum, corn, sunflower and 2-row malting barley, and an overhaul of all North Dakota fertilizer recommendations. In addition, he has conducted research into non-conventional products and nutrient cycling from cover crop use.
