Globally, the potential impact of weeds on crop yields is equivalent to all other biotic pests combined. Adequate weed management is necessary to mitigate crop yield losses, maintain quality, and ensure a return on investment. However, weeds are constantly changing and evolving in response to management practices, thereby hindering the success of a “one size fits all” approach.
This session will discuss how weeds are changing across the Canadian Prairies by adapting to management strategies and evolving herbicide resistance. It will cover new herbicide resistance issues in the region, and the latest research on integrated weed management that may offer a path forward.
